The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) just released a new public policy white paper addressing Medical Liability and Patient Safety entitled “Health Care at the Crossroads:  Strategies for Improving the Medical Liability System and Preventing Patient Injury.” 

The JCAHO "issued a call to action" to reform the US medical liability system.  They recommended that the current proposal for non-economic damage caps be expanded.  The JCAHO advocates intermediate and long-term system changes to facilitate patient safety.
